Late and failed payment fees

A failed autopay may trigger a failed-payment fee; if the installment stays unpaid, a late fee can follow. Your bank may add its own overdraft or NSF fee on top. These stack quickly, which is why timing is everything.

Reschedule fees

You can push an installment up to two weeks later. Using a reschedule before the due date is almost always cheaper than letting a payment fail.

What one missed payment can really cost

Individual fees look small, but they stack. Here is how a single bad week can play out on a $100 Pay in 4 order with $25 installments, with fees shown at the caps in our table (actual amounts depend on your order):

  1. 1

Autopay fails because the account is short — a failed-payment fee of up to $6.95.

  2. 2

The installment stays unpaid past the due date — a late fee of up to $16.95.

  3. 3

Your bank may charge its own overdraft or returned-payment fee for the declined attempt.

In a worst case, Sezzle's two fees together can come close to the size of the installment itself. Your account may also be paused, which blocks new orders and Sezzle Cash until you are back in good standing.

The cheaper pathRescheduling that same installment before its due date costs up to $7.50 — and the first reschedule on an order is often free. See what happens after a late Sezzle payment for the full timeline.

Subscription costs

Memberships are the biggest recurring cost. See Sezzle Anywhere vs. Premium to decide whether one pays for itself.

Can you get a Sezzle fee waived or refunded?

Sometimes — but it is never guaranteed. If a fee came from an honest mistake or a one-off problem, it is reasonable to ask.

Contact support through the Sezzle App and explain what happened, such as a bank outage or a refund that hadn't posted yet.
Pay the overdue balance first

A request is more persuasive once the account is current.

Be specific

Include the order, the date and the fee amount you are asking about.

Stay polite and brief

One clear message usually works better than several.

A waiver is more likely when your history is otherwise clean. If fees keep recurring, the real fix is upstream: move due dates, switch to bank payments or open fewer orders.

If a fee looks wrong rather than simply unwelcome — for example, a charge after you paid on time — ask Sezzle to correct it, and keep screenshots. Our Sezzle customer service article explains how to reach the right team.

“When we total up real-world Sezzle costs, almost all of the avoidable spend comes from three things: payments dated before payday, paying by card instead of bank, and forgotten subscriptions. Fix those and Sezzle is close to free for most shoppers.”
