- Sezzle Up is optional and reports Sezzle App payments to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion — on-time and late.
- You need one on-time paid purchase, a linked bank account and verified identity, including your SSN.
- Opt in only if you pay reliably, keep open orders few, and check your reports for accuracy.
Most buy now, pay later activity never shows up on a credit report — which means on-time payments do nothing for your score. Sezzle Up changes that. It is an optional feature in the Sezzle App that reports your Sezzle payment history to all three major credit bureaus.
What is Sezzle Up?
When you opt in, Sezzle reports your installment activity to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. On-time payments can help establish or strengthen your credit history; late payments can be reported too and may lower your score.
Sezzle Up requirements
- Pay off at least one Sezzle purchase on time
- Link a bank account as your default payment method
- Verify your identity, including your Social Security number
How Sezzle Up affects your credit score
Payment history is the single largest factor in FICO® scoring models, so a steady record of on-time installments is the main benefit.
Because each order is a short installment account, opening many in a short period can also add new accounts to your file. Keep the number of open orders modest.
“Sezzle Up is a good fit for people with thin credit files who already pay Sezzle on time like clockwork. If you have ever missed a Sezzle payment in the last few months, fix that habit first — reporting magnifies both good and bad behavior.”
— Priya Natarajan, Fact-Check & Compliance ReviewerHow to check that Sezzle Up is showing on your credit report
Opting in is only useful if your payments actually appear — and appear correctly. Each bureau updates files on its own cycle, so don't expect your history to show up the same day you join.
- 1Get your free reports
Federal law lets you request your reports from all three bureaus at AnnualCreditReport.com, the official free source.
- 2Look for Sezzle entries
Each order may appear as its own short installment account, so you could see several lines rather than one.
- 3Compare with the Sezzle App
Payment dates and statuses on your report should match the history in the app.
- 4Repeat periodically
A check every few months is enough for most people, and more often if you are preparing for a big loan.

What if a late Sezzle payment is reported?
With Sezzle Up switched on, a missed installment can follow you onto your credit report. How you respond matters.
If the late mark is accurate
- Pay the overdue amount in the Sezzle App as soon as you can — a resolved account looks better than an open delinquency.
- Contact Sezzle support to understand your options before the next due date.
- Rebuild with a run of small, on-time payments; recent behavior counts most.
If the late mark is wrong
You have the right to dispute inaccurate information directly with each bureau that shows it. Gather screenshots of your payment history from the app and file the dispute online with the bureau. You can also raise it with Sezzle support so the error is corrected at the source.
