Most Sezzle Cash advances are repaid in five installments about two weeks apart. Nothing is due on the day you borrow; the flat service fee is added to the first payment.

Build a payday plan for your payments

Knowing the schedule is one thing. Matching it to your paychecks is what keeps every payment clearing.

Take the $100 example from the table above. You owe $23.25 at week two and $20.00 at each of the four payments after that.

  1. 1

List your next five paydays next to the five due dates in the app.

  2. 2
    Spot any gaps

If a due date lands a day or two before payday, that's the one most likely to fail.

  3. 3
    Set money aside early

Move the installment amount into your repayment account the payday before it's due.

  4. 4

Turn on reminders so you can check your balance the day before each debit.

Have a good month? Paying an installment ahead of time is allowed with no penalty, and it gives you a cushion if a later payday runs short.

If you want to see how a different amount would play out before you borrow, run it through the Sezzle calculator.

How autopay works

Each installment is debited automatically from your default payment method on the due date. Repaying from a bank account avoids possible card surcharges.

Choosing the right repayment method

Your default payment method decides where every Sezzle Cash installment comes from. A little care here prevents most repayment problems.

Bank account usually the best default. It avoids possible card surcharges and draws from the account your paycheck reaches first.
Debit card useful as a backup, but check whether a surcharge applies when you add it.
Two accounts?

Choose the one that receives your direct deposit, not the one you check least.

Update the method in the app before a due date, not on it. A change made too late may not apply to the next debit.

Timing matters too. If your direct deposit usually posts late in the day, a debit scheduled for the same date can arrive first.

Keeping a small buffer in the account — even one installment's worth — protects you from that mismatch and from other auto-debits landing at the same time.

Closing a bank account?Add and set a new default payment method in the app first. A debit against a closed account will fail and can trigger fees.

Paying early

Open the advance in the Sezzle App and choose to pay an installment or the full balance. There is no prepayment penalty, and clearing an advance early may help you qualify for another when you need it.

If you can't make a payment

  1. 1

    Act before the due date.

  2. 2

Move money from savings or a later paycheck if possible.

  3. 3

Contact Sezzle support through the app to ask about options.

  4. 4

Avoid taking new credit to cover the installment.

What happens if a payment fails

If an installment can't be collected, you don't just lose a day — costs and consequences can pile up.

Fees a failed or late payment may add a Sezzle fee, and your bank may charge its own returned-payment fee.
Eligibility missed payments can make it harder to qualify for another advance and may reduce your spending power.
Retries the payment remains due, so it will still need to be paid.

The fix is the same in every case: pay the overdue amount as soon as you can through the app, then check that the rest of the schedule is funded. Our article on late Sezzle payments explains the fees in detail.

Getting back on track

  1. 1

Move enough money into your default account to cover the overdue amount.

  2. 2

Pay it from the advance screen rather than waiting for a retry.

  3. 3

Look at the next due date and set funds aside now.

  4. 4

Pause other new installments until the advance is cleared.

DO

“Line the week-two payment up with a paycheck — it's the largest because it includes the fee. If that one clears, the remaining four equal payments are usually easy to manage.”
